Winter Weather Update Sat 16th January 2010 - Time 17.00 pm

Forecast

Dry this evening. Rain is expected late evening. Possible formation of icy patches for a time before temperatures rise. Minimum temperature minus 1. Sunday expected to be fine and bright..

Action proposed for tonight

Gritters remain on standby and will take appropriate action should the situation change.

Salt supplies

Currently there is sufficient reserves to continue to treat high priority roads and other bus routes (”resilience network”) for 2 days based on the TfL criteria.

Although replacement salt supplies have been ordered, with the continuing high demand for supplies, London Councils in conjunction with TfL are now coordinating the availability of the borough’s salt supply, to ensure that each has a minimum of two days supply.

Forecast prediction

The general weather conditions are expected to improve over the next few days.
